MIMCO Capital upholds its commitment to sustainable development

As a signatory of the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) since January 2020, the MIMCO Capital Group has carried out its official carbon audit for the year 2020. The aim is to consider the impact of its activity on the climate and act accordingly by reducing its carbon footprint.

The calculator used was developed by the GoodPlanet Foundation, created in 2005 by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and whose vocation is to focus its actions on environmental field projects, raising awareness of environmental protection and supporting companies in their eco-responsible approach.

Based on the Bilan Carbone® methodology developed by the ADEME and now promoted by the Bilan Carbone Association, the tool primarily raises awareness.

"This diagnosis showed that the vast majority of MIMCO Capital's carbon footprint was mainly due to its fixed assets, but also with an impact on its air travel, representing an average of 6.89 tons of greenhouse gases for each of the 21 employees present in 2020", says Christophe Nadal, co-founder and CEO of MIMCO Capital.

MIMCO Capital has therefore voluntarily committed to neutralize all its greenhouse gas emissions by participating in sustainable projects supported by the GoodPlanet Foundation to help developing countries.

"By choosing to contribute to global carbon neutrality with the GoodPlanet Foundation's Action Carbone Solidaire program, we are happy to support projects led by entities with a social aim, namely projects that are part of an international solidarity and general interest approach. In this case, our contribution is involved in the household waste recovery in Cameroon, Togo and Madagascar via the Africompost program, but also in the spread of biogas in India, in the state of Karnataka, as well as in the distribution of solar cookers in Peru and Bolivia.", Bernd von Manteuffel, also co-founder and CEO of MIMCO Capital, explains.

MIMCO Capital wants to go further in its responsible approach and aims to set up in the short term a more precise calculation of the emissions generated by its real estate activities in 2021, as well as the structuring of a CSR strategy, all supported by the GoodPlanet Foundation’s expertise.
